Feb 12 , 2006

The time has come for this union of locals to voice the strength for the purpose that it
was formed, to protect the individual and therefore protect the body as a whole.
My local brothers and sisters we are under attack. Through craft of verbiage, a thinly
veiled assault that’s purpose is clear to those that can see, to eliminate a fellow
brother from our fold. This deed has been committed to paper and is unchangeable.
Our only option is to, as a whole, reject this vile breach in our ever weakening defense.
Historically there have never been media profits as those that exist today. New
technologies create new venues for profits. Yet, though our crafts that collectively create
the art that is the staple product of this business, we do not share in the profits,
conversely we are, under the scrutiny of the corporate guillotine.
We must disallow the tentacles of dismemberment to come upon this union.
We must stand together, for this is a precedence that can not stand, for it can only
proceed the fall of each of our crafts in time. As each is broken there will be less of
us to stand for and less of us to stand together.
This is either the beginning of the end or the beginning of a new beginning, the choice is
ours. We can no longer cower at the fear of loss, for loss has been achieving and if change
is not forced then loss will be our only future.
My voice echoes many who are stricken, the message is true.
Your vote is our strength as a whole; it is your strength as an individual. Through a vote
of NO on this ballot you can regain the strength of the union to position ourselves and
create a future of promise.
It is incumbent upon us all to achieve the unity that is our namesake, to strike down
this agreement for the protection of us all. It is time for us to be more than a union in
writing; we must be a union in action, for together we stand strong.
